What it does

Form feedback that looks like your site

When someone sends a form on your Total CMS site, the whole screen turns green with a giant tick. Blip Notice lets you choose something that suits your design better.

Total CMS shows the same feedback on every site: a full-screen colour wash with a spinner while the form sends, then a big tick, or a red screen if something goes wrong. It works, but it rarely matches your brand, and on a short contact form it can feel like a lot.

Blip Notice gives you seven styles to choose from, including a small toast card in the corner and a slim bar across the top or bottom that leaves the page in view. Pick your own colours, add a friendly "Thanks, we'll be in touch" message, swap the tick for a paper plane or a heart, and choose how it animates.

Want more? A custom CSS box lets you change anything else, and the page explains which parts of the banner to target.

A live preview shows your changes over a sample page before you save, at full or phone width. Save, and every form on your site uses the new look straight away, with nothing to edit on your pages. Your admin keeps Total CMS's own banner, and Reset puts everything back in one click.

Getting started

Restyled in three steps

No code and no page edits: Blip Notice works on every form your site already has.

Install it

Copy the blip-notice folder into tcms-data/extensions/speedyweb and switch it on under Extensions.

Pick a style

Open Blip Notice in the sidebar. Choose a style, then set your colours, messages, icon and animation.

Preview and save

Press Play to watch it as a visitor will, then Save. Every form on your site uses it straight away.

Requirements

What you'll need

Blip Notice works on any edition of Total CMS 3.6 or later. It adds a small script to your public pages through Total CMS's own assets tag, which Site Builder templates already include, so there's nothing to add. It only changes your public pages; your admin keeps Total CMS's banner.

Choose how long "sent" stays up, try your style on your own pages, give forms their own style, and screen-reader announcements.

Added

  • "Sent" stays up for 2 to 10 seconds (Total CMS's is 2), and visitors can close it sooner with a click or the Esc key
  • Screen-reader announcements: "Sending", your sent message or the error text is read out, with any style
  • Try it on this page: opens any page of your site with a small toolbar showing your unsaved style over your real design (only your browser sees it)
  • Check your site: checks a page for everything Blip Notice needs and says what to fix
  • Per-form styles: give a form a class such as blip-toast or blip-off to use that style for that form only
  • Use this style in the admin too (optional)
Upgrade notes

To use your style in the admin, tick Use this style in the admin too and switch on Blip Notice's new Admin Assets permission in its settings: on sites updating from 1.0.x it starts switched off, and the Blip Notice page reminds you. Everything else works straight after the update.

Lighter on your server, safer Hidden style, and clearer messages on the Blip Notice page.

Fixed

  • Pages without a form no longer load anything extra, nothing loads while you use Total CMS's own banner, and browsers keep the style until you save a new one instead of asking your server on every page view
  • Hidden no longer hides errors and warnings: they show in a small card, so visitors know when a form didn't send
  • The preview no longer goes quiet when your admin login expires; it tells you to reload the page
  • The Blip Notice page warns you when its Frontend Assets or Public Routes permission is switched off, with a link to its settings
  • Toast and Bar can now be icon only (a blank message used to be filled in for you)
  • The colour pickers start on Total CMS's exact colours
  • Saving or resetting clears Total CMS's page cache, so cached pages pick up the change
Upgrade notes

Update with the Update button on the Blip Notice page, or copy the new folder over the old one. Your saved style is kept.

Upgrade notes

Works on any Total CMS 3.6 edition. After installing, open Blip Notice in the sidebar, pick a style, watch the preview and click Save. It changes your public pages only (the admin keeps Total CMS's banner). Your page templates need Total CMS's assetsBody() tag, which Site Builder templates already have.
